When Rao Bika established the city of Bikaner in the 15th century, one of his first acts was to construct a temple for the Kuldevi, Maa Nagnechiya, replicating the tradition of Nagana.
The Bikaner Temple Idol
The temple is located near Bikaner Fort (Junagarh). It houses a beautiful replica of the eighteen-armed deity. Bikaner kings regularly sent administrative updates and offerings to Nagana.
Special Festivals in Bikaner
Bikaner celebrates Ashwin Navratri with royal processions where weapon worship (Shastra Puja) is conducted in front of the Nagnechiya temple.
