In Rajput culture, the Kuldevi represents the ancestral maternal force that guards the family line. Nagnechi Mata has filled this role for centuries, guiding kings and citizens alike through wars, migrations, and periods of peace. Before embarking on any auspicious event — be it a coronation, wedding, or child's first haircut (Mundan) — seeking the blessings of the Kuldevi is mandatory.
Connection to the Princely States
As the Rathores expanded their influence across Rajasthan, they carried the worship of Nagnechi Mata to their new capitals. This led to the consecration of notable Nagnechi Mata temples in:
- Mehrangarh Fort (Jodhpur): Consecrated by Rao Jodha in Vikram Samvat 1523.
- Bikaner Fort: Consecrated by Rao Bika in Vikram Samvat 1561.
Even with multiple temples, the shrine at Nagana village remains the root seat (Mool Peeth) of their heritage.
